Homosexual Advocacy Group Launches Campaign Against Marriage Amendment
For every card they send, Christian congergations need to send ten. Church, we have the numbers and the voice, it's time to put them to good use.
(CNSNews.com) - A homosexual advocacy group has launched a postcard campaign urging senators to vote no on the Federal Marriage Amendment, which defines marriage as the union of one man and one woman.
Beginning Monday and ending on June 5, Parents, Families and Friends of Lesbians and Gays (PFLAG) is urging homosexual activists to join their month-long "Dear Senator" campaign by sending senators postcards, with the theme: "Dear Senator: All I want for Mother's Day is for you to vote NO on the Federal Marriage Amendment ..."
"A no vote on the Federal Marriage Amendment would be the best gift any parent could get this year for Mother's Day or Father's Day," said Samuel Thoron, National President of PFLAG, in a press release. "This is literally giving the gift of fighting discrimination against our children -- and there's nothing a parent could want more."
PFLAG characterized the Federal Marriage Amendment as "the first step in writing discrimination" into the U.S. Constitution "by denying marriage equality to same-sex individuals."
In addition, the group plans to lobby congressmen on same-sex marriage and other issues affecting the homosexual community this week on Capitol Hill. They plan to take along family photos and make more than 30 visits during the day, followed by a reception on May 4.
"These visits are being made by PFLAG board members and Regional Directors -- all volunteers -- who represent the more than 200,000 members and supporters around the country," said Thoron.
"Our legislators need to see that we believe in family values too, to see our photos of the people we do this for -- and to understand why passing legislation that hurts our GLBT loved ones is wrong, is un-American and unacceptable," said Thoron.
"Our families are everywhere, and we deserve equality," said Thoron. "It is as simple as that. All of our children should have of equal treatment, equal protections and equal opportunities and our elected officials need to know it."

Our little family of four has already sent 6 cards against making homosexual marriage legal (we sent one in for mammaw and pappaw too), and I dont have any doubt that our lawmakers here are on our side; however, I am afraid that other states (ie California, new York, etc) may make a huge showing for the homosexual cause. I certainly hope i am wrong.
PFLAG is actually a straight organization. Just because the people in it love their gay or lesbian family member, or friend, does not mean that they, themselves are gay or lesbian.
Recent polls are showing that opposition to same-sex marriage has dropped considerably since it was used as an election issue in 2004 (as though it is more important than say....a war lol). It does not appear to have that same traction anymore. I guess this explains why there is a new focus on immigrants?
Beth,
All we can do is to be sure to make our wishes known to our congresspeople and senators. Like you, I've started sending out my notes.
Mr. Proulx,
Thanks for your comments on my blog.
I will have to disagree with you on the same-sex marriage opposition dropping. It may not be in the headlines at the moment, but I will say that conservatives have not lost sight of it.
All domestic issues are important and take the spotlight as they come up for decisions.
As for the war, if we played it your way, there would still be a dictator in Iraq set on getting nukes and continuing to kill his own people anytime they disagree with him.
I wish you libs could make up your minds. You save the spotted owl one day and then the next allow a dictator to torture people to death. Talk about out of control priorities.
As for PFLAG, I will always actively oppose them as long as they are attempting to cram the homosexual agenda down everyone's throats.
