San Francisco voters approve handgun ban

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) -- Voters approved ballot measures to ban handguns in San Francisco and urge the city's public high schools and college campuses to keep out military recruiters.
The gun ban prohibits the manufacture and sale of all firearms and ammunition in the city, and makes it illegal for residents to keep handguns in their homes or businesses.

Although law enforcement, security guards and others who require weapons for work are exempt from the measure, current handgun owners would have to surrender their firearms by April.

This type of thing makes me really angry. The Constitution of the United States of America says this:

Amendments to the Constitution:
Article 2:
A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.

It doesn't say ...keep and bear Arms, except handguns, or ...keep and bear Arms, except in municipalities where they choose to restrict what type of firearm may be kept.

Why can't people see that it's not guns that kill people, but people who kill people?

Hey, I've got an idea, why don't we take the criminals we catch and lock them up in jails for a really long time? Why don't we let law-abiding citizens keep their guns and then these criminals won't be sure who may be able to shoot back and who won't, so they might think twice about breaking into a house to rob it or hurt it's inhabitants?

I challenge anyone who reads this to make a study of the cities and countries who have passed gun conrtol and look at what their violent crime statistics have done. Get back to me on what you find. I already know the answer, but the exercise will be good for you.

By the way, if you do live in San Francisco, here is a graphic you can post on the windows of your house. It keeps the criminals from becoming confused. Good Luck, SF!!
